Presence of nonpresence

From 20 January to 18 February a photographic exhibition will be set up at Villa Frova by GIANCARLO RUPOLO entitled "PRESENZE DI NON PRESENZE" - Pripyat.

The inauguration will be held Saturday, January 20 at 17:30 and the presentation will be curated by the art critic Alessandra Santin. The exhibition will have the following opening hours: Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 15:00 to 18:30; Saturday and Sunday from 15:00 to 19:00.

Pripyat was a city of about fifty thousand inhabitants located three kilometers from the Chernobyl nuclear power plant where the reactor exploded on April 26, 1986. Pripyat, had been evacuated in four hours three days after the disaster has since been uninhabited due to the high concentration of radiation still present. After the evacuation, the families were scattered throughout the territory, then Soviet, thus breaking every link of social and associative life. Now of all these people remains only the sign of their passage.

GIANCARLO RUPOLO - Born in 1945, photographer since the late '70s, developing interest in social reporting documenting the circumcision in Muslim culture, life in the Roma camps in Albania, the medicine of a healer in the Cameroon forest, the - time inside the prison, the pain of Srebrenica and mass movements during religious events. He has 31 solo and 61 collective photographic exhibitions, winning numerous prizes.

The foundation exhibits temporary exhibitions and carries out its educational activities and meetings in the art gallery of the Hotel Museum Budapest
